The Month of Halloween

Sometime around the end of September I decided to make a schedule of things to do each day in October. Something that would hopefully make me less of a lazy mom. So I planned out an activity a day for the whole month, cut up a poster board, stamped the front of each card, and then hung the calendar on the wall. Alex and Edison were very excited about picking something to do each day. It ended up being a lot better than I expected. I enjoyed doing these things with the boys as well. So this is what we have been up to for the past month...

It was 37 degrees while we were out tonight. Alex said, "This is gonna be so fun!" He got most excited about the juice box he received. Sam and I were most excited about the $5 bill they got. Edison said, "Trick treat." We only went up one side of one street and then halfway back the other side of the street before Alex said he wanted to go home. He doesn't handle the cold very well. We let them eat whatever they wanted and then put all the candy away. I am sure they will ask for it again tomorrow.

Emily: Are you having so much fun?
Alex: Uh huh. But I still want more candy!

Emily! This is sooo CUTE! I LOVE this idea! I gotta say we did most of these things anyway, but I like the organization, and the anticipation that this provides! And your rock painting is such a sweet simple thing to add to our festivities...I have to make one of these for next year!!!

You win best/ funnest mom ever award! How do you stay so tiny when you bake those delicious things almost every day!

I actually didn't eat very much. We took them to people or the boys ate them. But staying tiny, I don't know about that.

Wow! What a month. :) I especially liked the pasta skeletons and the bobbing for apples. Need to do those...

I know a billion people are going to tell you--but this is really amazing. I love it. I also wonder--do you end up eating all of those caramel apples? They are such a problem (too much, too messy).

I LOVE your halloween costumes (and sam's). So cute! Also, can I PLEASE have the pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe? R's birthday is next week and he would LOVE them.

Someday, I might write you a letter. (Sorry I suck, no real excuse.)

xoxo!

I can't decide if that calendar is absolutely brilliant or if it would make me pull my hair out. I'm leaning towards brilliant. Did you have a designated one for each day or did they pick randomly? And did they go along with the proposed activity? J tends to foil my plans for cool mom activities by 1) refusing to do them at all, 2) completely destroying the activity, or 3) trying it for 1 minute and then run off to make a mess somewhere else.

What's your secret?

Ya - I don't think you could ever call yourself a lazy mom ever again. I don't even know how you could consider yourself that in the first place. I love your blog. You are awesome. I'm gonna need some help from you someday :)
