Passing the Time with Parents

Just a few weeks after we said goodbye to my parents in Utah, they dropped off my little brothers at Adventure for Youth (AFY) in Idaho and then drove to Williston! They had a few days to hang out before they had to go back to get my brothers so we helped them pass the time. They didn't arrive until really late on Monday night so we just showed them their room and then went to bed.

In the morning, we went to the park to play with friends.

My dad really wanted to see Williston so we went on a long drive around town after the boys went to bed. We ended at the airport. Williston is full of fun people to observe.

My parents hadn't done enough driving to get to our house (only 24 hours or so). Dad wanted to cross the last two Canadian provinces off of his list. We left early Wednesday morning and headed north to Saskatchewan. We ate lunch in a little place called This Is It. The drive was really pretty.

After lunch, we drove east to Manitoba and the International Peace Garden. It is a beautiful, giant garden that spans the border of the United States and Canada. It is not necessary to prove citizenship to get in, but if you want to get out either way, you better have your passport! This was the first border crossing for Edison and Declan but Alex had already been to Canada when we went to Niagara Falls.

We drove home through Minot but first we stopped in Rugby, ND, the geographic center of North America, so I could feed Declan and the boys played on a playground. Then we had dinner at Ebeneezer's, the best restaurant in Minot. After a quick trip to Target, we headed back to Williston and arrived at 11pm.

The next day, Sam showed my parents around SLB.

The boys got their usual haircuts when they see Grandma.

Grandpa helped the boys dig a pretty cool hole and they spent the next few weeks digging around it until our lame neighbors filled it up with garbage.

That night, we went bowling. I can't remember who won, but it was probably me.

Mom and Dad had to leave bright and early the next morning to head back to Rexburg to get my brothers from AFY. It was a short visit but I am so glad they were willing to drive all the way to Williston so my Dad could see our little home in Williston for the first time.

You guys are so adventurous! And what is that space between the two countries? No man's land? Haha.
