It was not the plan to move Edison out of his crib anytime soon. He has been climbing out of the crib for months but figured out how to do it safely and I didn't want to buy a new bed right now because I hope to get a bunk bed for the boys one day. I was on a Williston sales site and saw a crib/toddler bed for sale for $25. So I bought it. We went and picked it up and Sam put it together. It all happened in one day and I had not prepped myself for it. This is a big deal for a mom!
Edison is so excited to be able to get in and out of his bed easily. He has been pretty good about waiting to get out until he has permission. It is really nice that we can lie down next to him on the floor if he wakes up in the middle of the night.
We sold his old crib and changing table for $50. The crib and changing table we bought on craigslist for $100 before Alex was born. The new bed didn't come with a mattress and so we used his old one and then it didn't make sense to buy a new mattress for Declan to use the bed since we just bought a nice mattress for Declan's Pack N Play a few months ago. Maybe one day Declan will get a real bed.
A little update on Edison's blanket situation: He understood that his blanket was ruined and he willingly threw it in the garbage. He stuffed it in and closed the lid. I was pleasantly surprised. That blanket was so loved.
I let him pick out a new blanket from the linen closet and he picked a blanket that matches the letters on the wall above his bed. He calls his new blanket his Letter Blanket. It can be seen on the bed with him above. My mom, his Grandma Neil, made this blanket for him when he was a few days old. I am glad I vastly overestimated how much fabric I needed to buy when I was making those letters.
I am so proud of my Nug. He is maturing so quickly and figuring out how to deal with different situations. I feel like a big boy bed is a gateway to dating, missions, moving out, and leaving me forever. My baby is growing up!
