Lucky

I do some pretty dumb things. Not all dumb things are created equal.

I spent most of the night awake with Edison who was screaming and wailing. I am not sure exactly what the problem was since he didn't seem sick but I figured it might be because of his two-year-old molars coming in.

Around 3:30am, I decided to go find the teething medicine we have. I bought it when Alex was a baby and only used it a few times because my kids are sneaky teethers. I look in their mouths and suddenly they have more teeth.

I found the medicine and got it ready. It was the wee hours of the morning and I was tired and delirious. I was holding the medicine container in my mouth while reading the instructions on the box. Somehow I managed to consume the entire dose. No big deal. I'm an adult. It probably wouldn't affect me, right? I spit out the medicine and drank water. But almost immediately I realized my mouth was numb.

Edison went to sleep for the rest of the night after that so I was the only one who took any teething medicine. It all seemed much more serious in my sleepy state. I guess you could say I am lucky I didn't choke on my tongue in my sleep.
