Pumpkin Patch

I woke up on a Saturday, walked up to Sam in the living room, and said, "Let's go to Minot." So we got the boys dressed and then loaded into the car. I had driven through Minot but we hadn't gone there as a destination. Maybe because it isn't very much of a "destination." The two hour drive there wasn't too bad and the boys fell asleep for a few minutes.

We went straight to Olive Garden for lunch. It was delicious. The boys surprisingly ate their lunch! They usually eat nothing when we go out so I was impressed. They must have been starving.

We went to a pumpkin patch after that. The boys got in for free and it was only a few dollars for Sam and me. The boys sprinted over to the giant pile of hay. The bales were too big for the boys to get up on themselves but once we helped them up, they loved it. The slides were so fun! Even Sam had a turn.

We bought tickets for Alex and Edison to go on the train. Edison was hating it but we had already paid for it so I wanted him to stay. We should have taken him off and let Alex go twice. (It looks like Sam has his tongue out but those are the tickets in his mouth.)

We walked through the corn maze. We were in there for so long and then when I thought we were almost done, we got to a sign that said, "Halfway Point." There was also an exit there so we quit. We are quitters.

We walked on a trail back to the pumpkin patch. On one side was the corn maze and on the other was a field of sunflowers. Sam picked one and ate it as we walked back to the pumpkin patch. He was complaining that the seeds weren't salted.

I played on the pumpkins with Edison while Sam and Alex played on the hay slides for a long time.

Alex ran over and asked if he could go on the train again so I found him four quarters and he went and bought another ticket. He was so excited. He was "choo-choo"ing and moving his arm and up during the entire ride. Of course because we decided not to attempt to put Edison on the ride again, he chased the train and was crying.

After we left the pumpkin patch, we went to the mall. We wandered around and then went to the food court to get Orange Julius. It wasn't as good as I remembered.

The drive home wasn't very great. We were so tired. We all fell asleep. Yep, even Sam. I woke up to the rumble strips many times. One time I woke up and he was in the middle of the road hitting the construction cones. I decided to stay awake after that. But we got home safely and the car is totally fine. Whew. It was a really fun day and I felt like we used our Saturday very well. Alex asked every day for the next several days after that if we could go back and play on the hay slides again. Next year!
