It has already been established that I bruise easily, but apparently it runs in our family.
Sam told me this was an accident but I didn't see it happen so who can say. We have had a week full of "Well, if he wouldn't be so insubordinate I wouldn't have to teach him a lesson..." type jokes. But I guess we did know this was coming.
Luckily, the universe gave Sam his just deserts*. He was playing third base at his softball game and a ball took a bad hop right into his shoulder. I think I heard Alex mutter, "Sweet, sweet revenge."
*"Just deserts" is the proper way to write this phrase. Because the accent is on the second syllable (so it is pronounced like "desserts") people often think that it is spelled the same. Those people are mistaken. "Just deserts" refers to a person getting a deserved reward or punishment.

Ouch! That looks like it would have hurt! Also loved your post about Suns and Lakers. Dave ADORES the Suns(eats, breathes, and dreams about them...) and HATES the Lakers with a passion. He will root for about any team the Lakers are playing. Me, on the other hand could really care less about it, but I grew up in Southern CA and my brother and dad are huge Lakers fans. So I like to give Dave a hard time and root for the Lakers. Makes things interesting.:) This past playoff season was pretty fun...:):)
ReplyDeleteor maybe he got his just "desSerts"? haha. :}
ReplyDeleteCamille - I wrote it right. It is "just deserts." It is pronounced like "desserts" though, which the emphasis on the second syllable. It "refers to a deserved reward or punishment." That is a very common mistake. You can read more about it here (http://www.snopes.com/language/notthink/deserts.asp).
ReplyDeleteWow. Thanks Emily. I learn something every day. Hope I remember that one.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like there was anything "easy" about that bruise on Sam's arm. Ouch. It's probably a lovely yellow by now.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not "easy" for Sam, but I think it was well-deserved. Especially since he is always calling me fragile!
