Learning and Serving

Sam and I are going to our Stake Strengthening Marriage class. It is on Friday nights. It was designed as a sort of date night. Four or five couples in our ward signed up and we planned to have a babysitting rotation each week. I watched the kids the first week (Sam was out of town) but only one couple showed up. The next week, we went to the class while that couple watched our kids. Then that other couple quit completely so we started taking our kids into the class with us. I have really enjoyed the class so far.

Our stake day of service was a few weeks ago.We went to the project where they were cleaning up an old cemetery because our ward's was postponed. The cemetery was in extreme disrepair. There are hundred of bodies buried there but only about 25 headstones remain. We showed up completely unprepared. I was wearing shorts and then we learned there was poison oak. Luckily, we managed to avoid it. We also forgot gloves. We did what we could, which involved a lot of carrying branches to the dumpster. Sam got to help break up a concrete tube form. He loved it and felt very manly.
